Eligibility and admission

Degree Program is made purely on the merit as assessed through CLAT conducted for the purpose by the Admission Committee, appointed by the Director. The test will carry a maximum of 200 marks.

A candidate for admission to the Degree Course shall have:

(a) passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) system or an equivalent examination thereto securing in the aggregate not less than 50% of the total marks in all the core subjects and English language put together ; and

(b) not completed 20 years of age as on 1st July of the year of admission. Provided in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST, the maximum age limit shall be 22 years as on 1st July of the year of admission.

The intake capacity for the Degree Program shall ordinarily be eighty (80) with the following reservations :

a) Scheduled Caste : 15%

2. THE NATIONAL ACADEMY OF LEGAL STUDIES AND RESEARCH, Hyderabad (NALSAR)

The National Academy of Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) University of Law established under the Andhra Pradesh Act 34 of 1998, is a body corporate having perpetual succession and a common seal. It is a fully residential University engaged in teaching and promoting research in law and its allied disciplines. NALSAR's curriculum is inspired by the UGC Curriculum Development Committee (CDC) Report. Recommendations of the CDC have been updated to bring it in consonance with globalising India, pluralism and social integration and to weave in concerns of poverty, gender and disability into the legal curriculum. The Justice City campus of NALSAR University is located on the Hyderabad-Karimnagar highway at Shameerpet, 28 kilometres from the Hyderabad Airport, with a city centre at Barkatpura, Hyderabad. Admission to the First Year of the 5-year B.A., LL.B.(Hons.) Degree Programme is made strictly on merit, based on CLAT. To be eligible for admission, a candidate should have passed the Higher Secondary School / Intermediate Examination (10+2) or its equivalent recognised by the University, secured 50 percent marks in the aggregate and be less than 20 years of age when taking admission.

3. WB NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF JURIDICIAL SCIENCE, Kolkata (NUJS)

The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, often abbreviated to NUJS, located in the Salt Lake City district of Kolkata , West Bengal, India, is a law university imparting legal education at the undergraduate and post graduate level. 4. NATIONAL LAW INSTITUTE UNIVERSITY, Bhopal (NLIU)

The National Law Institute University (NLIU) has been established by Act No. 41 of 1997 of the Madhya Pradesh Legislature to fill the gap and providing most modern legal education through multidisciplinary teaching and training of newer skills needed for the profession. The University launched its first academic programme in 1998 and teaching for five year B.A., LL.B. course commenced from September 1 of that year. At present the University is situated in verdant eco-friendly surroundings on Bhadbhada Road at the outskirts of Bhopal near the Kerwan Dam. 5. NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY , Jodhpur (NLU)

The National Law University, established by National Law University Jodhpur, Act, 1999 (Act No. 22 of 1999), passed by the State of Rajasthan, is the fifth National University for Legal Education in the country following the institutions at Bangalore, Hyderabad, Bhopal and Calcutta. 6. GUJRAT NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, Gandhinagar, (GNLU)

Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) is a statutory university established by the Government of Gujarat under the GNLU Act, 2003. The youngest National Law University commenced its first academic session in July, 2004. GNLU is established and inspired to join the top league of National Law Schools at Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bhopal, Jodhpur and Raipur. Presently, it is situated in the Old NIFT Campus at Gandhinagar. The new projected GNLU campus shall have all the facilities of a modern university including a well-stocked and networked library and sound IT infrastructure.

Admission Details :

Admission to the University shall be purely on the basis of merit, mainly assessed through CLAT. Only candidates securing 50 percent marks (45% for SC/ST) in the qualifying examination (10+2 public examination) shall be admitted to the Undergraduate Programmes. Candidates above the age of 20 years are also ineligible.

Intake and Reservations

It has been taking 160 students each year, whereby 15% of the seats will be reserved for S.C. candidates, 7.5% for S.T. candidates, 3% for physically disabled candidates and 10% for candidates belonging to the State of Gujarat. A horizontal reservation of 30% of seats has also been made in favour of girl students.

7. HIDAYATULLAH NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, Raipur. (HNLU)

The Hidayatullah National Law University at Raipur is a fitting testament to one of our greatest legal luminaries, Justice Hidayatullah. 8. RAJIV GANDHI NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF LAW, Patiala

9. DR. RAM MANOHAR LOHIYA NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, LUCKNOW

Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, U.P. was established by an Act of Govt. of Uttar Pradesh in 2005 and came into being on 4th of January 2006. Originally incorporated as 'Dr.Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law Institute but later, vide an amendment in the Act in November'2006 the word 'Institute' was substituted by the 'University'. 10. CHANAKYA NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, Patna

The Bihar Government has established Chanakya National Law University to provide quality legal education on the lines of NALSAR Hyderabad, NLSIU Bangalore and other Law Universities . The University has already commenced the work at A.N.Sinha Institute of Social Studies campus, Gandhi Maidan, Patna . Chanakya National Law University established under the Chanakya National Law University Act, 2006 (Bihar Act No. 24 of 2006) and included under Section 2 (f) of the U.G. C. Act, 1956, aims at Excellence in imparting Legal Education.
The Government has identified and proposed to set up the University at a sprawling campus of nearly 20 acres in Meethapur area of Patna .

Intake: Total intake for B.A., LL.B (Hons,) course is 80 (Sixty seats on merit through Entrance Test, 20 seats direct admission for foreign nationals on merit. Vacant seats, if any, under this category will be taken to general pool). 11. NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF ADVANCED LEGAL STUDIES, Kochi

The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) has been established to be a national level institute of excellence in higher learning of law in the State of Kerala by the Government of Kerala by virtue of the Act 27 of 2005. The Government of Kerala constituted this University by merging the erstwhile National Institute for Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS), which was established and managed by the Bar Council of Kerala and Bar Council of Kerala Trust. The Government of Kerala has allotted 2.5 acres of land and a permanent building on lease for housing the University. Government has also allotted 10 acres of land on lease for 90 years at Kalamassery for constructing the permanent campus for this University. Plans are being formulated for starting the construction work. It is expected that the Head quarters of the University will be transferred to the new campus within a short period. National University of Advanced Legal Studies has entered into M.O.U (Memorandum of Understanding) with the University of Paris - X, Nanterre, France with a view to have exchange of faculty, students and also research output and other foreign universities.

Courses: B.A. LL.B(Hons.) course is 60, out of which 5 seats are reserved for candidates from outside Kerala. Candidates from outside Kerala means those candidates who have undergone secondary and higher secondary education in institutions outside Kerala. 10% of the seats out of 55 are reserved for SC/ST community and another 10% is reserved for Other Backward Community candidates.

Admission Details: Admission will be made from the rank list prepared on the basis of the marks obtained in the entrance test conducted by the University as well as marks obtained for the basic qualifying examination and also the marks obtained in the interview. No candidate shall be admitted for the First Semester of B.A. LL.B(Hons.) Degree unless he/she has passed the Plus Two examinations of the Government of Kerala or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by this University with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate and has secured not less than 50% marks in the entrance examination. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% of the minimum marks.

There are a total of 80 seats. 70 seats in the open merit category (through the entrance exam). There is 15% reservation for SC, 7% for ST and 3% for people with disabilities. 10 seats are reserved for direct admission to foreign nationals. Foreign nationals must also sit for the entrance exam and must score at least 65%.

13. NATIONAL LAW UNIVERSITY, ORISSA

The National Law University, Orissa, at Cuttack, is a premier Law university established by the national Law university Orissa act of 2008.

14. ARMY INSTITUTE OF LAW, Mohali

The Army Institute of Law (AIL) was established in July 1999 under the aegis of Army Welfare Education Society (AWES). The Institute is running 5-year degree course in law after 10+2, primarily for the wards of serving and ex-servicemen of Army. However 20 percent seats are available for the civilians also. Out of this 15 percent are reserved for Punjab Residents and 5 percent for All India Civil Category.

Intake: Total seats are 80 out of which 64 are reserved for wards of Army Personnel, 12 for Punjab Residents Civil Category and 04 are for All-India Civil category.

Eligibility and admission

Candidates with educational qualification of 10+2 exam or equivalent, including students taking such exams in April / May of the year, and securing at least 50% marks (45% in case of SC/ST) candidates are eligible. Candidate should not have completed the age of 21 years on 1st July of respective year. 17. BHARTI VIDHYAPEETH UNIVERSITY'S NEW LAW COLLEGE , Pune

This college is one of the earliest institutions started by Dr. Patangrao Kadam, the Founder of Bharati Vidyapeeth in 1978. It had permanent affiliation with University of Pune till 1996. 19. ILS LAW COLLEGE, PUNE

The Indian Law Society was established in 1923 as a Public Charitable Trust registered under the Societies Registration Act. The Indian Law Society established the Law College in 1924, which has since then established itself as a premier institute for legal studies in India. Government Law College, Mumbai was established in the year 1855. In 1860 it was affiliated to Bombay University which was established two years later to it, i.e . in 1857.
