CLAT 2026 Counselling Update: 4th Round Postponed – Key Details & What Aspirants Should Do

The Consortium of National Law Universities has officially announced an important update regarding the CLAT 2026 admission process. If you are a CLAT aspirant waiting for counselling rounds, this update is crucial for you.

📢 4th Round of CLAT 2026 Counselling Postponed

As per the official notification dated May 1, 2026, the 4th round of counselling for CLAT 2026 (Undergraduate programme) has been postponed.

Originally expected to begin soon, the delay has been caused due to ongoing legal proceedings.

    ⚖️ Reason Behind the Delay

The postponement is linked to a case being heard by the Allahabad High Court.

✔️ A Special Appeal has been filed by the Consortium

✔️ The case has already been heard by a Division Bench

    ✔️ The judgment is reserved

✔️ The final verdict is expected on or after May 8, 2026

👉 The counselling process will resume immediately after the court’s decision.

📅 When Will the New Counselling Dates Be Announced?

    The Consortium has clarified that:

✔️ A revised schedule will be released

✔️ It will be published on the official CLAT website

✔️ The process will restart right after the judgment is pronounced

🎓 What About CLAT 2026 PG (LL.M.) Counselling?

There is no impact on postgraduate admissions.

✔️ The LL.M. counselling schedule remains unchanged

✔️ Admissions will proceed as previously planned

🧠 What Should CLAT Aspirants Do Now?

While the delay may feel frustrating, it also gives you time to stay prepared:

    ✔️ Stay Updated

Regularly check official updates from the Consortium to avoid missing deadlines.

    ✔️ Keep Documents Ready

Ensure all required documents for counselling are organized and verified.

    ✔️ Analyse Backup Options

Explore alternative law colleges or backup plans in case of unexpected changes.

    ✔️ Stay Calm & Patient

Legal proceedings are beyond student control—focus on what you can manage.

🔍 Expert Take from Crack CLAT Tutorials

At Crack CLAT Tutorials, we recommend students not to panic. Such delays are not uncommon in competitive exams involving legal scrutiny.

    Instead, use this time wisely:

✔️ Prepare for upcoming academic transitions

✔️ Stay mentally ready for counselling decisions

✔️ Track cut-offs and seat trends

    📌 Final Words

The postponement of the CLAT 2026 4th counselling round is a temporary delay caused by legal proceedings. Once the court announces its judgment, the admission process will quickly resume.
